The museum is dedicated to the Romano-British history of Bremetenacum Veteranorum, the Roman name for what is now Ribchester, a picturesque village in central Lancashire which lies on the river Ribble.

The Sculpture garden is situated at the entrance to Ribchester recreation ground at the junction of Church Street and Pope Croft. Four carvings by sculptor Fiona Bowley celebrate the village’s life past, present and future.

The garden is the result of a community project, which grew and grew. It started with a public meeting and the desire to commission a piece of public art to commemorate the Millennium.

Extensive fund- raising followed and the carvings, new paving, railing and a formal yew hedge transformed the entrance to the village playing field.

The Village of Ribchester with the outlying hamlet of Stydd are situated in the picturesque Ribble Valley in the heart of rural Lancashire. Ribchester grew out of the ruins of the Roman fort of Bremetenacum and the Parish Church of Saint Wilfrid's stands where the principle buildings of the fort would have been.

Always a farming community the Village grew significantly in the 17th and 18th Centuries through the expansion of the Lancashire cotton industry. The Village can still boast many of the cottages used by the hand loom weavers in the early part of the 17th century but the weaving industry has all but gone. Ribchester is still a busy place although most of its population work in the nearby city of Preston or town of Blackburn.

I am a craftsman in wood producing a wide range of custom made solutions for people's homes. My furniture is broadly contemporary but my aim always is to interpret my clients' ideas and tastes sympathetically, allowing them to express themselves in creating new items for their homes, and providing decades of use and pleasure.

Apart from the very occasional sub-contracting of specialist skills, I work alone in my workshop in the Ribble-valley village of Ribchester in Lancashire, creating the designs, selecting the timber and building the pieces. This allows me to maintain a high standard of quality and to be more directly responsive to my clients' ideas.

Geoff is an entirely self taught artist. He was born in Lancashire and his early working life was as a gamekeeper and seeing wildlife in its different seasons, has helped him considerably with his paintings. He finds acrylic and gouache paint are his favourite media for the detail in his work which is his trademark. His subjects cover birds, mammals, flowers, butterflies and landscapes.

Geoff lives in the picturesque Roman village of Ribchester on the banks of the River Ribble. Callers are always welcome to view his work in his own Gallery in the village. 

A large part of his work are commissions, of which he can be contacted about.

Sara and Carl welcome you to The Carmen Rose where we pride ourselves on our home made food and support of local produce and businesses. We are so much more than a Traditional English Tearoom. Yes, we serve home made scones with butter, clotted cream and a selection of home made jams, but we have also been voted second place to eat in Lancashire. Carl's home made specials are becoming a bit of a legend with people travelling miles to sample his food.
And if that isn't enough we have an award-winning gift shop upstairs and Sara's floristry studio. Sara is now a professional florist and her studio upstairs is full to brimming with flowers and sundries to buy and take home with you.

Dale Hey Farm offers a fantastic location for families, walkers and those who love the countryside. We now have 16 new hard standing pitches (May 2009) situated adjacent to a 12 acre broad leaved woodland planted in 2003. Paths are clearly marked so that you can enjoy our site fully.

All pitches are approx 8x6 m. Even your awning can be accommodated on stone to avoid soggy feet and yellow grass so please bring rock pegs if you are going to put an awning up!

All pitches have electric hook up and there is a toilet/shower block on site.

Morris made his first Flying C' or Rubber Tail over thirty years ago. The original idea dates back to the 18th century with the famous spinner "The Wagtail". It was constructed with two flat pieces of leather sewn together. He developed this idea using latex cut from cycle innertubes. He decided to manufacture purpose made latex bodies. The results were outstanding and far superior to conventional silicone bodies.

About ten years ago he introduced them to Gamefishermen who demanded quality from spinning lures. Starting with a small advertisement in a game fishing magazine, word soon spread about the tough latex bodies and the wide range of sizes and weights available.
