Sally Hollingworth was one of the resident artists at Ascot Studios from 2006 until 2009. Born in 1974, Sally grew up in the picturesque village of Goostrey in Cheshire. Being part of a creative family with a fondness for the countryside, she soon adopted the creative spirit and a strong appreciation for nature. In 1996 Sally graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art & Painting from Bath School of Art & Design and moved to Lancashire in 2000. She now works as a professional artist from her studio in the Ribble Valley and teaches art at Blackpool & Fylde College.

Sally has a strong connection with woodland, specifically aspen & silver birch trees indigenous to Britain and North America. Having travelled extensively through North & South America, this first-hand experience of the vast forests and open landscapes found on the American continent is evident in her artwork. These sinuous elongations are the patterns of nature that Sally is trying to record on the canvas; graphically, the repetitive linear forms are very dramatic.

Sally explains, "Recently, silver birch trees have provided a fascinating subject for their structural qualities. An important part of my work is the exploration of painting processes and techniques; these are used to portray the contrasting qualities of light, texture and colour so evident in the subject of trees and woodland."
