Description
A dramatic original oil painting by contemporary British artist Sarah Victoria Scott (SVS), this large-scale abstract seascape occupies the compelling territory between landscape and pure abstraction. Measuring 39 x 27 inches, the composition is dominated by atmospheric turquoise and blue-grey, dramatically interrupted by intense passages of crimson, coral, pink and flashes of glowing orange.
The painting has an immediate sense of horizon, weather and reflected light, yet Scott deliberately avoids defining a particular place. Forms appear and disappear within layers of paint, suggesting distant clouds, turbulent water and the last extraordinary colours of a sunset. This ambiguity is central to its appeal: the viewer can recognise the emotional language of landscape while being free to interpret the image personally.
Particularly striking is Scott’s handling of colour. The unexpected juxtaposition of cool turquoise blue with vivid pink and deep red creates both tension and harmony.
